Any project about people of color and technology is incomplete without a reference to this book. Dr. Noble is helping us better understand the relationship of search and AI tools.
Dr. Butoliya’s work has helped us reimagine how we think about jugaad. Read it here
An old one, but a gold one. As we think about the current generative AI models, we should reflect on the failures too. Read The Verge article here.

Papanek is a grounding force in how we are reimaging design as an activity. He says, “Design is basic to all human activities - the placing and patterning of any act towards a desired goal constitutes a design process.”
You are responsible for what you put into the world.

“To suggest that we democratize Al to reduce asymmetries of power is a little like arguing for democratizing weapons manufacturing in the service of peace. As Audre Lorde reminds us, the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house.”

Our exploration would be incomplete without understanding and recognizing who builds the tech we use, and how it impacts us. This book is also available in audiobook formats.

As any word implies a grammar, any number hides an algorithm – that is, a procedure for representing quantities and for performing operations with quantities. In conclusion, all numbers are algorithmic numbers as they are manufactured by those algorithms that are the systems of numerations. Numerals count nothing (so to speak); they are simply position holders in a procedure – an algorithm – of quantification.
